Experimental investigation of convective heat transfer for night cooling with diffuse ceiling ventilation

The convective heat transfer coefficient (CHTC) is a crucial parameter for night ventilation performance estimation. This paper investigates the of with diffuse ceiling (DCV) concept in an office room. A series dynamic full-scale experiments were conducted different thermal mass distribution schemes, air change rates per hour (ACH), and supply temperatures. CHTC at interior surfaces inlet outlet temperatures as reference temperature efficiency DCV then derived. In most cases, experimental CHTCs differed significantly from predicted by existing correlations. presence furniture (tables), its location, installed on walls had little influence floor. However, increasing one surface can augment own CHTC. New correlations based developed potential application building energy simulation tools. decreased increase ACH, initial difference between indoor air, level. higher than mixing displacement ventilation, except case low ACH.
